Helping Up Mission provides a one-year resident, counseling, rehabilitation, and educational program.  Helping Up Mission houses over 400 men each night.  Colimore Architects designed Phases II and Phase III building renovations and additions. Phase II: Replacement of the +/- 38,000 sf existing 4 level multi-purpose mission building and maintain existing front facades for historic preservation purposes rebuilding within footprint, 4 floors plus basement to house a 60 bed overnight homeless shelter with showers and toilets, multi-purpose/chapel space, visitor’s lobby, office spaces for staff, library, arts/crafts space, counseling rooms, conference/seminar rooms and rooftop deck. Interior design incorporates salvaged elements such as cast iron columns, tin ceilings, and wood flooring as design elements.  Lobby space has tile flooring and an exposed brick “memorial wall.” A cross element created from salvaged wood flooring included into the lobby design. The exterior restoration was presented, reviewed and approved by Baltimore City “CHAPS” for Historic Preservation. Phase III:  CAI completed construction of the Phase III renovation which consists of the ground floor and the first floor of the 1031 building to the left of Phase II.  The first floor will house 90 clients including showers, toilets, and a lounge. The ground level will provide recreation and support services.  The existing building facade is to be replaced to resemble it’s circa 1930 precast stone façade.
